Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Connor McGregor (ranked 4413 p4p, 23273 weight class) and Brett Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nixon has chosen Throw it on me as his entrance music. Brett Nixon will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Connor McGregor ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Brett Nixon! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGregor darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Nixon pushes McGregor off but McGregor dives into side control.
Nixon trying to remain calm as McGregor controls from the top position. The ground and pound from McGregor seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Nixon wants to get back to his feet but McGregor drags him back down. McGregor controls the position from side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGregor tries for a kimura but Nixon is defending well. McGregor decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nixon to his feet. McGregor could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nixon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. McGregor drives through and clinches with Nixon against the cage.
Nixon has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. McGregor is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Nixon is trying to stall.
McGregor keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Nixon's efforts to push away. McGregor drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nixon pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nixon tries to close the distance and clinch but McGregor swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. McGregor has a takedown stuffed.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGregor shoots in for a takedown but Nixon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Connor McGregor . That's going to take a lot out of him. McGregor takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Nixon closes the distance and clinches up with McGregor , looking for a takedown. Nixon pushes McGregor against the cage but McGregor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Nixon uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McGregor . That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! McGregor crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Nixon - the referee stops the clock and McGregor gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Nixon. McGregor manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. McGregor scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Nixon wants to get back to his feet but McGregor is dominant here and he's now got Nixon's back! This has been an exciting period of action! McGregor controls the action. McGregor throwing sloppy strikes. Nixon is trying to get back to his feet but McGregor has full control of the position and if anything, Nixon has just worked his way into a worse spot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGregor looking for the choke but no joy. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

McGregor seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Nixon's chin but Nixon turns very nicely into McGregor 's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Nixon.
McGregor might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

McGregor pulls Nixon in close to prevent any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nixon decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Connor McGregor will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Nixon throws a leg kick and McGregor counters by moving into the clinch. McGregor manages to pull guard.
McGregor seems keen to control Nixon's posture. Nixon trying to control the position from guard on top but McGregor is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nixon wants to stand but McGregor is controlling his posture from full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGregor looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGregor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nixon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nixon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. McGregor is controlling Nixon's posture. Connor McGregor overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Nixon scores with a leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Nixon tries to keep at a distance but McGregor has taken the fight into the clinch. Nixon drops down looking for an ankle pick but McGregor pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nixon gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and McGregor holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Nixon gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from McGregor .
McGregor blocks a body shot from Nixon. McGregor prevents Nixon from breaking the clinch. Nixon fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Connor McGregor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brett Nixon. McGregor successfully pulls guard.
McGregor looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nixon is one step ahead there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGregor is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nixon is aware though and is defending well. McGregor pulls Nixon in close to his closed guard and prevents Nixon from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! McGregor keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nixon. McGregor throws a head kick that misses. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Connor McGregor dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round! McGregor shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nixon as he avoids it easily. Nixon fails to land the takedown. McGregor swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Nixon counters with a one-two to the body. Nixon slaps away a takedown attempt from McGregor , before circling back to the center of the mat. Nixon is looking for the big counter here. Nixon misses with a combination
and McGregor connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Nixon doesn't manage to clinch there - McGregor circles away.
McGregor throws a counter high kick but Nixon was just alert enough to avoid it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGregor moves into range and clinches up with Nixon. McGregor looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Nixon tries to pull guard but McGregor holds him up against the cage and eventually Nixon drops back down to his feet.

McGregor no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. McGregor is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nixon can do to turn this around? Nixon looking to control the position here, rather than advance. McGregor keeping moving, preventing Nixon from controlling successfully. Nixon drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McGregor manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nixon has McGregor in his guard.
Nixon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nixon wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and McGregor manages to pass to side control. McGregor prevents Nixon from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McGregor is figuring out what he wants to do next. McGregor works his way into full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGregor misses with a head shot. Nixon is trying to stand. McGregor with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
McGregor content just to control the position here. Nixon is trying to stand but he's just given McGregor his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Nixon trying to get back to his feet but McGregor is in full control for now. McGregor working for the choke. McGregor is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Nixon is defending well though. McGregor let's go of the attempt for now. Nixon is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Brett Nixon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Connor McGregor is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! McGregor is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
And that's the end of the fight! Connor McGregor showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for McGregor , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
