PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Luke Moxley (ranked 24557 p4p, 11251 weight class) and Christopher Bridges (ranked 529 p4p, 533 weight class). Bridges has chosen Radioactive as his entrance music. Christopher Bridges told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luke Moxley !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christopher Bridges!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bridges has managed to clinch.
Moxley misses with a punch to the body.
Bridges holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Bridges slowing the pace effectively.
The crowd are getting on Bridges's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.

Bridges breaks the clinch.
Moxley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A swing and a miss from Moxley .

Bridges clinches up with Moxley and pushes him back against the cage.
Moxley misses with a hook to the ribs.
Moxley misses with a punch to the body.
Moxley misses with the head strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moxley throws a head punch that misses.

Bridges breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Bridges fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Moxley , pushing him back against the cage.

Bridges lands a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Bridges sitting in guard here, content to control.
It looks like Bridges might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Bridges's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bridges is continuing to stall.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bridges decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Moxley scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Bridges manages to mount him!

Moxley is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bridges wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Moxley tries to buck Bridges off but he can't manage it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Christopher Bridges dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Bridges fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Moxley on the side of the head.
Moxley swings for the body but Bridges moves out of range.
Moxley throws an off balance right hand
and Bridges counters with a one-two to the body.
Moxley misses with a straight right.
Moxley fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Moxley throws a big shot that misses.
Bridges swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Moxley misses the jab.
Bridges only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Moxley fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bridges manages to avoid it.
Moxley throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Bridges counter with a right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moxley misses with a straight left.

Bridges closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Moxley to the mat! Moxley manages to get full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Christopher Bridges has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Let's hope that Bridges has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bridges blocks a jab.
Bridges shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Moxley as he avoids it easily.
Bridges has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Moxley throws the left hand but Bridges avoids the punch easily.
A nice side step and Bridges releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Moxley enables Bridges to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Moxley manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Bridges is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Bridges thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bridges engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Bridges forces his way into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bridges seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Christopher Bridges showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Moxley 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Bridges works over Moxley 's head and body with a nice combination.
Bridges throws a head kick that half lands.
Christopher Bridges seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Moxley misses with a straight right.
Moxley throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Bridges has managed to clinch.

Bridges pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bridges ducks right into an uppercut from Moxley .

Moxley throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bridges sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Bridges closes the distance and pushes Moxley back into the cage.
Bridges lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Moxley or not.
Moxley misses with a punch on the inside.

Bridges pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Nice shot lands for Moxley .
Bridges changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Moxley tries to avoid it but Bridges manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Moxley to the ground. Moxley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Bridges shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Moxley manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

and Bridges counters with a two punch combo.

It looks like Luke Moxley has been cut.

Bridges bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bridges in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Bridges with more of the same as he continues to hold on.
Moxley is trying to control Bridges's posture but Bridges avoids it.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bridges controls the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Moxley loads up on a big right hand but Bridges slips the punch.

Bridges shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Moxley napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Moxley wants to control but Bridges postures up.
Bridges controls the position from side control.
Bridges works to advance to full mount. Moxley defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Moxley has given up his back here. Will Bridges look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Bridges has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Moxley 's body.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
Bridges is not going to allow Moxley to sit and survive in this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
I would not like to be Moxley right now.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Bridges.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Bridges ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Moxley rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bridges counters with a nice uppercut.

Bridges forces Moxley back against the cage and clinches.

Bridges gets control of Moxley 's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bridges will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Bridges is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Moxley defends well.
Moxley tries to stand but Bridges is controlling from the bottom.
Moxley has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Bridges is pulling down on Moxley 's head to control his posture.
Moxley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Bridges had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Moxley defends it easily.
Luke Moxley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bridges has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Moxley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bridges lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

And that's the end of the fight!
Christopher Bridges comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bridges has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Christopher Bridges decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
