Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chiang Ching Wong (ranked 4023 p4p, 4016 weight class) and Marcus Delgado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chiang Ching Wong has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chiang Ching Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Delgado!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Donatello Bradman and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Delgado tries to work over Wong's front leg with a kick but Wong checks it.
Wong with a poor takedown

and Delgado moves into the clinch.
Wong is looking to take this one to the mat.
Wong blocking some punches.

Delgado has Wong pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Delgado pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Wong tumbling to the mat - Delgado dives into Wong's guard.
Wong looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Delgado stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wong swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wong is stalling here. Delgado is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Wong seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Delgado has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Wong wants to control the pace but Delgado is squirming around nicely.

That was a close round but I would say that Chiang Ching Wong will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Delgado counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Wong!
Wong tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Delgado wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Chiang Ching Wong overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Delgado throws a big elbow that misses.

Wong has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Delgado can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Delgado stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wong swivels though and keeps the full guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Delgado is pushing down on Wong's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wong is fighting to maintain full guard but Delgado has managed to sneak the leg through.
Wong has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Delgado is working away from the top position though.

Wong is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Delgado is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Delgado working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Delgado accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Marcus Delgado showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Wong goes for a double leg but Delgado avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Delgado continues to drive forward.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well Delgado has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
