Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pavel Sekera (ranked 1269 p4p, 852 weight class) and Vladimir Kalishnikov (ranked 156 p4p, 107 weight class). Sekera's entrance music is Bleed it out. A fine choice. Vladimir Kalishnikov has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pavel Sekera! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 0 - 1, fighting out of London, Vladimir Kalishnikov! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sekera looks for a takedown but Kalishnikov sprawls well. Sekera sets himself, and Kalishnikov steps forward looking for the clinch! Sekera avoids it this time. Vladimir Kalishnikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sekera shoots for a takedown but Kalishnikov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kalishnikov just misses with a punch to the body.
Sekera will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pavel Sekera. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sekera moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Kalishnikov jabs Sekera right on the nose. Sekera blinks but takes it well. Kalishnikov lands a nice hook to Sekera's body. Sekera takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Kalishnikov looks to land a combination but Sekera avoids it well. Kalishnikov lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sekera shoots in for a takedown but Kalishnikov shows good takedown defense. Sekera sets himself, and Kalishnikov steps forward looking for the clinch! Sekera avoids it this time. Kalishnikov punishes Sekera's body with a nice straight punch. Kalishnikov rushes Sekera and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Sekera fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kalishnikov working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Sekera has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Sekera wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sekera has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kalishnikov uses from the top position. Sekera is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Kalishnikov engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Kalishnikov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Kalishnikov has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Sekera to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Kalishnikov is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Sekera pulls down on the head and he's put Kalishnikov to sleep! This one is all over!

An out of breath Pavel Sekera thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
