PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darrion Moss (ranked 6883 p4p, 3164 weight class) and Jestoni Hawk (ranked 711 p4p, 402 weight class). Moss kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Can't C Me. Jestoni Hawk struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Darrion Moss has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darrion Moss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jestoni Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hawk wants it to stay on the feet.
As Moss backs off Hawk throws a huge counter combo but Moss manages to avoid it all.

Moss shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hawk is trying to defend but Moss finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Moss is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Hawk won't allow Moss to pass to mount.
Hawk moves into full guard.
Moss showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Hawk looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Hawk had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Moss defends it easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Moss stands up over Hawk, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Hawk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moss. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hawk controls Moss momentarily but Moss frees himself.
Moss wants to pass the guard but Hawk is keeping the position.
Moss passes easily into side control. Nice work.

You can see the frustration on Hawk's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Moss is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hawk knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hawk can't do much from the bottom here.
Moss grinds an elbow into Hawk's temple.

Moss connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hawk some visible discomfort.

Hawk wants to hold on but Moss pushes him away.

Moss wants to control the pace but Hawk is squirming around nicely.

Moss looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Moss winds up and cracks Hawk with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hawk is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Moss scores with a couple of nice shots.

Hawk is rocked!

Moss is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hawk has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hawk is still in real trouble! Can Moss finish him?
Hawk trying to control but Moss postures up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Moss shoots for a double leg takedown but Hawk sprawls well. He's pushed Moss's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hawk unleashes a big counter combination but Moss bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Hawk seems to have recovered his senses.
Hawk leaves Moss with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Moss is looking to work some ground and pound but Hawk has wrist control.

Hawk can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Moss controls the pace.
Moss throws a big elbow that misses.
Moss is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Moss's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Hawk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Moss is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hawk can't keep his opponent in guard - Moss advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Hawk holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Moss has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
