PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hero Primo (ranked 5787 p4p, 6654 weight class) and Ivars Ivanovs (ranked 181 p4p, 194 weight class). Ivanovs has chosen Poppy - Play Destroy (feat. Grimes) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ivars Ivanovs will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Hero Primo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ivars Ivanovs!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Primo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Ivanovs bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Ivanovs throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Primo looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Ivanovs ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Primo moves away.
Primo tries to counter with a takedown but Ivanovs is quick to defend against it.
Hero Primo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Primo moves out of range as Ivanovs strikes.

Ivanovs gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Primo in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ivanovs is trying to keep Primo in close.
Ivanovs is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Primo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Primo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Primo stops Ivanovs from standing up.

Primo drops back looking for a leg! Ivanovs is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ivanovs manages to kick Primo off! Primo jumps back into Ivanovs's guard.
Primo pushes down on Ivanovs's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Primo keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Ivanovs looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Primo seems to be working for a kimura but Ivanovs defends the submission attempt.
Primo trying to pass the guard but Ivanovs defending well.

Primo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Primo frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Primo jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Ivanovs manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Ivanovs is not content to let Primo control the position.

Primo swings around for an armbar but Ivanovs sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Primo's guard.

Primo is looking for a triangle but Ivanovs pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Primo is on top in guard.

Primo works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Primo working over Ivanovs with some ground and pound. Ivanovs looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Primo not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ivanovs wants to control but Primo is keeping busy.
Primo throwing shots but Ivanovs is blocking nicely.

Primo not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Primo is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ivanovs!
Primo pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Ivanovs is squirming around, avoiding Primo's attempts to control the action.
Ivanovs is controlling an arm, preventing Primo from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Ivanovs is trying to escape the mount but Primo keeps good control and instead manages to take Ivanovs's back.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Hero Primo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Ivanovs wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Primo manages to pass to side control.

Primo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ivanovs's head.
Primo is trying to control the action in half guard but Ivanovs is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Primo is pressing down on Ivanovs's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ivanovs is holding on for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ivanovs is trying to control but can't.
Primo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Primo works his way into side control.

Primo is looking to take a break and control but Ivanovs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ground and pound from Primo seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Primo is trying to get an arm triangle but Ivanovs is defending well.
Ivanovs really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Primo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Primo is putting a hurting on Ivanovs here, landing some big shots from side control.

Ivanovs is not content to let Primo control the position.

Ivanovs might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Primo haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Primo seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Ivanovs is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Hero Primo decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
