Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stanislav Saprykin (ranked 1497 p4p, 1709 weight class) and Nicky Spite (ranked 225 p4p, 241 weight class). Nicky Spite will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stanislav Saprykin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicky Spite!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Saprykin misses

and Spite counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Saprykin!
Saprykin regains half guard.

Spite wants to work for an arm triangle but Saprykin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Spite is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Saprykin is just riding it out for now. Spite eventually gives up the hold.
Saprykin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Saprykin tries to get out of the position.

Spite is working for a submission of some sort.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Saprykin is staying active underneath Spite, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Spite seems to be working for a kimura but Saprykin defends the submission attempt.

Saprykin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Spite is looking for a kimura but Saprykin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Spite to get the leverage.
Saprykin is looking for a sweep. Spite is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Spite tries to pass the half guard into mount. Saprykin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Spite has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Spite has hold of Saprykin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Saprykin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Saprykin holds on for dear life, controlling Spite's posture momentarily.

Spite goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Saprykin turns into him and now he's in Spite's guard.

Saprykin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Spite, up you get!

Spite walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Spite wants to clinch.
Stanislav Saprykin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Saprykin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Spite feints the counter takedown.
Spite walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Saprykin thows a left - swing and a miss!

The fight stays on the outside here - Spite looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The crowd cheers as Saprykin lands an impressive looking overhand right. Spite doesn't seem phased though.
Nice takedown defense from Saprykin. No joy for Spite on that attempt.

Saprykin tries to bum rush Spite with a series of wild strikes but Spite uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Saprykin misses with an uppercut. Spite saw that one coming.
Spite drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Saprykin defends it well.
Spite is looking to clinch.
Saprykin digs a good hook to Spite's body.
Spite stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Saprykin.
Saprykin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Spite.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Spite fails with an attempt to clinch.

Spite is trying hard to land a takedown here. Saprykin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Spite counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Saprykin missing with a left hand there. Spite was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Saprykin enables Spite to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Saprykin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Saprykin tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Saprykin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sloppy strikes from Saprykin. Those never looked like landing.
Saprykin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Spite stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Saprykin.

and Spite counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Spite.

Spite is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Saprykin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Spite can do to turn this around?
Saprykin wants to stand up but Spite is controlling him.

Horrible takedown attempt by Spite or perhaps it was just good defense by Saprykin, which made it look bad.

Saprykin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Saprykin wants it to stay on the feet.

Saprykin looks to land a left hand but Spite moved out of range nicely.
Spite changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Saprykin tries to avoid it but Spite manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Saprykin to the ground. Saprykin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Saprykin is trying to escape the mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spite goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Saprykin turns into him and now he's in Spite's guard.
Saprykin is in close to Spite's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Spite is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Saprykin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Spite is working an open guard so Saprykin takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Saprykin waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Spite.
Spite tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Saprykin misses with a low kick.
Spite takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Spite shoots in and gets a takedown into Saprykin's guard.
Spite trying to control but Saprykin is working from the bottom.
Saprykin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Spite is controlling him.

Spite drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Saprykin dives on top into guard.

Spite preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Saprykin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Spite on the ground.

Saprykin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Spite is proving hard to escape from.
Spite looking for a sweep. Not yet Spite, not yet.

Saprykin stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Spite throws up his legs and catches Saprykin in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Saprykin tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Spite! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Nicky Spite!
Our winner, Nicky Spite, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
