Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between chuck lidell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, chuck lidell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bryan Banks!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banks shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has lidell pinned against the cage. lidell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Banks misses with a jab, cross combination.
Banks swats away the attempt to clinch by lidell.
lidell scores with a three punch combo!
Banks falls off balance throwing a combination
and lidell counters with a nice uppercut.

Banks gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
lidell wants to pass the guard but Banks is keeping the position.

Banks pushes lidell off and scrambles back to his feet.

and Banks counters by moving into the clinch.
lidell wants to get back to striking at distance but Banks won't allow it.
lidell tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Banks just stands there and leans against the cage.

Banks pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
lidell moves in looking to clinch but Banks pushes him off.
Banks scores with a head kick.


It looks like chuck lidell has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bryan Banks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

lidell shoots in but Banks avoids the takedown attempt easily.

lidell is stalling here. Banks is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! lidell seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Banks has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Banks moves in looking to clinch but lidell pushes him off.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Banks pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

lidell tries to keep at a distance but Banks has taken the fight into the clinch.

Banks turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Banks manages to end up in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Banks wants to control but lidell is keeping him busy.
lidell tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Banks presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
lidell can't escape the position.

Banks avoids the attempt from lidell to control.
Banks trying to control but he's not successful this time.
lidell is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Banks tries to control but lidell wriggling away.
lidell squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

lidell keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryan Banks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Banks throws a nice looking combination but lidell bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

lidell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Banks tries to avoid it but lidell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Banks to the ground. Banks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

lidell wants to advance to full mount but Banks doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

lidell tries to free his leg and advance position but Banks is retaining full guard.
lidell wanted to stand there but Banks had control of the position.
Banks is trying to keep lidell in close.

lidell wants to stand and escape but instead Banks has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
lidell keeping moving, preventing Banks from controlling successfully.
lidell is looking to sweep but instead, Banks has passed into half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Banks stalling.
lidell works his way to full guard. Good work.

I think Banks has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
