Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lorick Spana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Coco Trippaaja! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spana scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Trippaaja shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Spana as he avoids it easily. Spana shoots in and bounces Trippaaja off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Spana has gone for a leg lock! Trippaaja slips out almost immediately though and dives into Spana's guard. Spana wants to get back to his feet but Trippaaja is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Trippaaja drops back looking for a leg! Spana is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Spana manages to kick Trippaaja off! Trippaaja jumps back into Spana's guard. Spana is looking for a triangle here but Trippaaja uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Spana sneaks out the side door and pushes Trippaaja away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Trippaaja shoots in for a double leg but Spana sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Spana uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Trippaaja shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Spana as he jumps to the side. Lorick Spana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Coco Trippaaja. A telegraphed right hand from Spana misses the target. Spana throws a good cross that connects.
A left lands for Spana. Trippaaja has a takedown stuffed. Trippaaja looks gassed! A cross from Spana lands. Trippaaja uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Spana. Trippaaja fails with the takedown. Spana throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Spana throws a shot from downtown. Trippaaja moves away and avoids it. Jab, jab by Spana - just one landing. Trippaaja closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Spana manages to get to full guard.
Spana working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Trippaaja doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Trippaaja manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spana looking for a triangle here. Trippaaja is fighting it but it looks tight! Spana pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Trippaaja is tapping out - this one is all over!
