Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Start (ranked 6908 p4p, 6706 weight class) and Levi Valli (ranked 607 p4p, 601 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matthew Start!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Levi Valli!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valli tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Start counters with a takedown into side control.
Valli is trying to control Start's posture but Start avoids it.
Valli is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Valli misses with an elbow from the bottom.

Valli gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Start seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Valli for as long as he can get away with.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee asks Start politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Start prefers to stall for the moment though.

That was a close second round but I would say that Matthew Start will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Start is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Valli is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Start remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
