Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kaz McStafferson (ranked 1676 p4p, 1857 weight class) and Trond Asmundsen (ranked 248 p4p, 270 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 26 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kaz McStafferson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Trond Asmundsen! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Phil Schofield and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McStafferson throws out a powerful jab. Asmundsen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McStafferson.
It seemed like Asmundsen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Asmundsen connects with an inside leg kick. McStafferson looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. McStafferson smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. McStafferson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Asmundsen eats them both and turns towards McStafferson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Asmundsen moves away from the strike by McStafferson. Asmundsen misses the jab. McStafferson pushing out the jab but it's not landing. McStafferson looks to score with a jab to the body but Asmundsen is just out of range. McStafferson looks to land a left hand but Asmundsen moved out of range nicely. Asmundsen lands a nice looking kick to the body. McStafferson takes a step back to recover. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Asmundsen misses with a double jab.
Asmundsen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McStafferson. Asmundsen throws a body shot but no joy. Asmundsen's jab looks to have found its range, popping McStafferson under the eye. McStafferson catches Asmundsen with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! McStafferson punishes Asmundsen's body with a nice straight punch. A slapping leg kick lands for Asmundsen.
That's one minute gone in the round. McStafferson darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Asmundsen looks to land a left hand but McStafferson moved out of range nicely. Asmundsen cracks McStafferson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Asmundsen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McStafferson.

so Asmundsen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. McStafferson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. My spies in The Barn inform me that Asmundsen has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Asmundsen trying to control but McStafferson is working from the bottom. Asmundsen is in close to McStafferson's body, working some short punches and elbows. Asmundsen is looking to take a break and control but McStafferson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McStafferson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. McStafferson is looking to regain half guard here but Asmundsen keeps moving and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Asmundsen grinds an elbow into McStafferson's temple. Asmundsen misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Asmundsen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McStafferson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. McStafferson taking punishment in the form of punches.
Asmundsen throws a strike aimed at the side of McStafferson's head but McStafferson avoids it well. McStafferson regains half guard. McStafferson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. McStafferson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Asmundsen lands a couple of decent looking shots. Asmundsen throws a sloppy strike and McStafferson has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Asmundsen is forced to tap! Great BJJ from McStafferson!
