Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Drummond (ranked 1970 p4p, 3360 weight class) and Barry Kingsmill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Drummond had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Drummond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barry Kingsmill!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingsmill defending well as Drummond loads up on a big left hand.
Drummond throws a poor cross that misses

and Kingsmill counters with a takedown into side control.
Drummond is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Drummond tries to roll over but Kingsmill keeps him under control.
Kingsmill is trying to control. Drummond wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kingsmill is thwarting Drummond's attempts to control the position.
Drummond makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Drummond.

Drummond is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Drummond working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kingsmill doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kingsmill manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Drummond connects with a leg kick.
Kingsmill shoots in for a takedown but Drummond shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kingsmill's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Drummond connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kingsmill scrambles back to his feet.

That has opened up Barry Kingsmill's cut even more.
Drummond clobbers Kingsmill with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Drummond throws a jab but it's blocked by Kingsmill.
Kingsmill tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Kingsmill staying out of range there.
Kingsmill bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kingsmill takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Drummond throws a front kick aimed at Kingsmill's knee but Kingsmill avoids it well.
Jake Drummond seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Drummond throws a leg kick but Kingsmill checks it.
Kingsmill tries to counter by closing the distance.
Kingsmill ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kingsmill fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've been told by Drummond's head coaches at The Scrap Squad that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Kingsmill has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Drummond finds it's way round the side to connect with Kingsmill's head.
Drummond tries to score with a low kick but Kingsmill moves his leg out of the way.
Kingsmill goes for a double leg but Drummond avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Drummond continues to drive forward.
Jake Drummond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barry Kingsmill.

A nice leg kick lands there from Drummond.
A big left from Drummond misses.
Drummond thumps Kingsmill with a low kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Drummond tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Drummond misses the shot to the body.
Drummond getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Kingsmill misses with a takedown attempt - Drummond sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A lazy left from Drummond finds it's target.

The cut above Barry Kingsmill's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Drummond throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Kingsmill counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kingsmill.
Drummond lands an uppercut.
Drummond stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Drummond tries to throw a body punch but Kingsmill avoids it by throwing Drummond back against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Drummond breaks the clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Drummond dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Barry Kingsmill's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Drummond looks to land a left hand but Kingsmill moved out of range nicely.
Kingsmill darts in looking for a takedown but Drummond gets double underhooks and turns Kingsmill into the cage.

Kingsmill takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Kingsmill tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Drummond feinted with a counter takedown.
Drummond misses with a hook.
Kingsmill takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Kingsmill checks a leg kick nicely.

Kingsmill has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kingsmill there as he acknowledges the shot.
Drummond is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kingsmill.
Kingsmill shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Drummond fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Drummond connects with a jab.
Jake Drummond is winning the standup battle so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Drummond throws a shot from downtown. Kingsmill moves away and avoids it.
Kingsmill uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Drummond.
Despite the aggression on Kingsmill's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Drummond lands with a cross.
Drummond throws a jab but it's blocked by Kingsmill.
Kingsmill is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Drummond cracks Kingsmill on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Kingsmill falls backwards against the cage. Drummond follows up with more strikes that drop Kingsmill to his knees. Drummond keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Kingsmill! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jake Drummond!
