Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Charlie Astro!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trey Hardwick!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Astro shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hardwick eats them both and turns towards Astro to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Hardwick throws a left and a right that both miss
and Astro counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Crunch! Astro slams his shin into Hardwick's torso.
A decent looking cross lands there for Astro.
Astro fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Astro clobbers Hardwick with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Hardwick moves forwards but Astro connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Astro lands a nice looking body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Astro lands with a hook. Hardwick tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Nice jab there from Astro.
Hardwick tries for a takedown but Astro circles away easily
and Astro counters with a good low kick that Hardwick was not able to check.
Hardwick misses with a takedown attempt
and Astro counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hardwick is rocked!
Astro drops Hardwick with a straight right hand, right on the button! Astro follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Charlie Astro!
Charlie Astro is the new welterweight champion!
After the fight, Charlie Astro was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
Trey Hardwick spoke after the fight, saying 'Damn man, Im not going to make excuses but i feel like I should have won.'.
