PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Hill (ranked 1112 p4p, 1727 weight class) and William Ralph Dean (ranked 33 p4p, 57 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Scott Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 16 - 1, fighting out of New York, William Ralph Dean!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Steve Montenegro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Dean.
As Dean backs away, Hill returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
A decent looking cross lands there for Hill.
Dean throws an off balance right hand
and Hill counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Dean thinking.
A telegraphed right hand from Dean misses the target.
Hill has been working on his boxing with his coaches at 3Band MMA in the buildup to the fight.
Hill misses with a wild body shot.
Hill throws a big shot that misses.
Dean now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Hill throws out a loose jab but Dean uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hill wants to clinch up but Dean keeps it at a distance.
Dean is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Hill with a body shot.
A clash of legs there as Dean blocks the low kick.
Hill throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dean shapes to counter with a head kick.
A jab from Hill does it's job there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dean uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hill.

Dean's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hill connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Dean scrambles back to his feet.

Dean with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hill to score with a decent uppercut.

Dean moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Hill doesn't manage to clinch there - Dean circles away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dean lands a right hand that snaps the head of Hill backwards.
Dean tries to throw a body punch but Hill avoids it by throwing Dean back against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Hill just misses with a elbow thrown towards Dean's brow.
Hill wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Hill manages to break the clinch.
Dean lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hill circles away quickly and effectively.
Hill scores with a jab to the jaw.
Hill keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hill lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Hill misses with a straight left.
Hill sets himself, and Dean steps forward looking for the clinch! Hill avoids it this time.
Dean cracks Hill with an open hand slap.
Dean keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hill.
Dean doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Hill looks to throw the jab but Dean is out of range.
Hill connects with a looping right hand.
Hill throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dean throws a sloppy head kick and Hill moves out of range easily.

Hill looks to score with a jab to the body but Dean is just out of range.

Dean ducks under a wild hook from Hill.
Dean appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Hill throws a predictable looking body shot
and Dean counters with a nice body shot.
Scott Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dean throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Hill looks to land a left hand but Dean moved out of range nicely.

Dean throws a big counter head kick but Hill avoids it with no problem.
Hill steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dean.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Scott Hill will probably get the nod.

That's time! Hill's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hill takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Dean moves out of range of the strikes.

Dean tries to sprawl but Hill drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Dean tries to kick Hill off in order to stand up. Hill Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Hill connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Dean some visible discomfort.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hill is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Dean wants to get back to his feet but Hill drags him back down.
Hill landing a few strikes.

Hill working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Dean is pushing Hill's head away, looking to escape. Hill manages to hold on to the position though.
Dean tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dean wants to get back to his feet.

Hill has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Dean has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Dean is trying to get back to his feet but Hill has full control of the position and if anything, Dean has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A relieved looking Scott Hill thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
