Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Robert Pochonkii (ranked 23815 p4p, 4657 weight class) and Jose Carlos Zaragoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pochonkii comes to the cage accompanied by Hail Mary. Robert Pochonkii has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Pochonkii!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jose Carlos Zaragoza!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Ron Honeybunn and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zaragoza gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Pochonkii drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pochonkii stalling in the clinch but Zaragoza improves position.
Pochonkii wants to break the clinch but can't.
Pochonkii really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pochonkii tries to pull guard but Zaragoza won't allow it.
Zaragoza lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Pochonkii is trying to maintain a safe position but Zaragoza gets an underhook and turns Pochonkii into the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Horrible takedown attempt by Pochonkii or perhaps it was just good defense by Zaragoza, which made it look bad.

Zaragoza ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Zaragoza no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Zaragoza closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pochonkii quickly recovers to half guard.

Pochonkii has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Zaragoza is on him like a limpet, forcing Pochonkii back against the cage.
Pochonkii blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pochonkii accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Zaragoza has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Pochonkii is taking a breather. Zaragoza says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Zaragoza tries to roll over but Pochonkii keeps him under control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zaragoza can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Pochonkii shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Zaragoza sprawls well. Zaragoza wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pochonkii gets slowly back to his feet.
Pochonkii displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Zaragoza throws out the jab.

Jose Carlos Zaragoza showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Zaragoza goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Zaragoza throws a sloppy head kick and Pochonkii moves out of range easily.
Pochonkii shoots in but no luck this time.
Zaragoza drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Pochonkii defends it well.
Pochonkii misses with a leg kick
and Zaragoza counters with a left to the body.
Zaragoza dives in for a single leg takedown but Pochonkii sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Zaragoza takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Pochonkii slaps away a takedown attempt from Zaragoza, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Pochonkii gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Zaragoza to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Pochonkii wriggles free and stands up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Robert Pochonkii showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Zaragoza has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
