Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Kiwi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yoshihama Katsunan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kiwi tries to keep at a distance but Katsunan has taken the fight into the clinch.
Katsunan wants to get back to striking at distance but Kiwi won't allow it.
Katsunan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Katsunan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kiwi walks away with a smile on his face. Katsunan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Katsunan moves into the clinch.
Katsunan lands a knee to the body.
Katsunan tries to land knees in the clinch but Kiwi avoids the damage to the body.

Katsunan is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Kiwi is leaning against Katsunan and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Kiwi presses Katsunan against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Kiwi avoiding damage as Katsunan throws knees to the body.
Katsunan looking to stall.
Katsunan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kiwi just stands there and leans against the cage.
Katsunan struggles to land a body shot inside as Kiwi controls his hands.
Katsunan putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Kiwi in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Nice body punch from Kiwi - that landed with a thud.
Katsunan tries to pull guard but Kiwi holds him up against the cage and eventually Katsunan drops back down to his feet.
Bruce Kiwi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshihama Katsunan.

I was talking to Kiwi's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Still in the clinch, Kiwi scores with a nice short uppercut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kiwi lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Katsunan backwards.
Kiwi lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Katsunan.
Kiwi makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Katsunan is rocked!
Kiwi pushes Katsunan against the cage. Kiwi is working some dirty boxing. Kiwi pushes off with a quick right hook! Katsunan goes down! Katsunan tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Kiwi moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bruce Kiwi!
After the fight, Bruce Kiwi was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
