Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Lima (ranked 1710 p4p, 4283 weight class) and Yasha Fillipov (ranked 189 p4p, 390 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paulo Lima! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yasha Fillipov! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lima fails with the takedown. Lima clinches up against the cage. Lima is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Fillipov to keep the fight standing. Lima tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fillipov smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paulo Lima. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fillipov moves into range and clinches up with Lima.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fillipov tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Lima misses with a punch on the inside.
Lima jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Fillipov walks away with a smile on his face. Lima gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. The fight moves into the clinch position. Fillipov has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lima regains guard immediately. Lima looking for a guillotine here but Fillipov defends easily.
Fillipov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Lima not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lima had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fillipov defends it easily. Fillipov stays in close to Lima's body and controls the position. Fillipov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lima is keeping the position for now. Fillipov stays in close to Lima's body and controls the position. Fillipov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lima swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lima will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Lima is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fillipov defends well. Fillipov is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lima wants to sweep but no luck. Lima is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Lima seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Lima keeping full guard, as Fillipov tries to pass. Lima has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fillipov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Lima throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fillipov content to stall in guard here. Fillipov has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Lima to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Fillipov is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Lima pulls down on the head and he's put Fillipov to sleep! This one is all over!
