Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Derek Chauvin (ranked 5800 p4p, 5819 weight class) and Ryu Yamauchi (ranked 439 p4p, 443 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derek Chauvin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryu Yamauchi!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chauvin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Chauvin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yamauchi on the ground.

Yamauchi looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Chauvin seems to be working for a kimura but Yamauchi defends the submission attempt.
Chauvin slows the pace down in half guard.
Yamauchi trying to hold on to Chauvin's head to control him but Chauvin postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chauvin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Yamauchi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chauvin.

Yamauchi gets back to full guard.
Yamauchi lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Yamauchi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chauvin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Chauvin looking to control but Yamauchi passes into half guard.
Yamauchi slows the pace down in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Yamauchi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Chauvin is refusing to be controlled, as Yamauchi sits in half guard.
Yamauchi not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Yamauchi content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Chauvin manages to escape and get back to his feet!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chauvin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Yamauchi circles away.
Chauvin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Yamauchi sprawls well. Yamauchi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chauvin gets slowly back to his feet.

Chauvin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Chauvin misses with a head shot. Yamauchi uses the momentum to regain guard.
Chauvin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Yamauchi is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Chauvin has his hands clasped together but Yamauchi extends and breaks Chauvin's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Yamauchi.
