Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jari Laitila!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Oscar Amann!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amann fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Laitila, pushing him back against the cage.
Amann wants the takedown. Laitila is fighting it off but Amann persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Laitila's guard against the cage.
Laitila is trying to control the position but Amann postures up.
Amann throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Amann got a little sloppy there for a moment and Laitila has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Amann has managed to get both his arms back between Laitila's legs - danger averted.
Laitila is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Amann is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Laitila controls Amann momentarily but Amann frees himself.
Laitila is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Laitila is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Amann has his hands clasped together but Laitila extends and breaks Amann's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Laitila.
