Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Denchailek Sitsongrit!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Niaz stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Sitsongrit.
Niaz wants to clinch.
Sitsongrit steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Niaz wants to clinch but Sitsongrit slips to the side
and Sitsongrit counters with a leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Sitsongrit. No joy for Niaz on that attempt.
Niaz misses with an uppercut
and Sitsongrit makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Niaz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Niaz fails with an attempt to clinch.
Niaz checks the leg kick.
Sitsongrit misses with a kick to the body

and Niaz counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Sitsongrit told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sitsongrit can do anything to dispel that myth.
Niaz prevents Sitsongrit from standing back up.

Sitsongrit is staying active underneath Niaz, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Niaz seems to be looking for submissions.
Sitsongrit trying to control but Niaz postures up.
Niaz has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Niaz is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Sitsongrit tries to get to full guard but Niaz has control of the leg.

Sitsongrit gets back to full guard.
Niaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Sitsongrit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Niaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sitsongrit swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Niaz won't allow Sitsongrit to sweep him here.
Sitsongrit really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Niaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Niaz passes into half guard.
Niaz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Niaz looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sitsongrit is controlling Niaz's position as best he can from this difficult position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Niaz is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Sitsongrit is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
