Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ju Hicks (ranked 24217 p4p, 2849 weight class) and Hamzat Hoogo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hamzat Hoogo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hamzat Hoogo!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hicks throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hoogo.
Hoogo blocks a head kick by Hicks.
Hoogo moves into range and clinches up with Hicks.
Hoogo stalls.
Hoogo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hicks just stands there and leans against the cage.
Hoogo tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Hoogo can't find room to land a body shot as Hicks controls the action.
With the fighters up against the cage, Hicks throws an elbow but misses.
Hoogo's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Hicks creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Ju Hicks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hamzat Hoogo.

Hoogo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hoogo is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hicks to keep the fight standing.

Hicks wants to control from the top but Hoogo keeps moving.

Hoogo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hicks gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
