Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Scotty Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Trudeau! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Smith closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Trudeau to the mat! Trudeau manages to get full guard. Smith controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Trudeau trying to control the position.
Smith makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Smith missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith content to stall in guard here. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Smith dives in and scores a takedown into Trudeau's guard. Smith passes easily into side control. Nice work. Smith looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Trudeau is avoiding damage well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trudeau being controlled for a moment. Trudeau is trying to get back to half guard. Smith is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Trudeau has escaped the position, nice work there. Smith working away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Scotty Smith dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Trudeau thuds his right hand into Smith's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Scotty Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith shoots in for a takedown but Trudeau shows good takedown defense. Trudeau feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Smith sprawling to the canvas! Smith rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Trudeau finish him?!
It looks like Scotty Smith has been cut. Trudeau lands a right hook to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action! Trudeau cracks Smith with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Smith tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Trudeau pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Smith is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Justin Trudeau! A relieved looking Justin Trudeau thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
