Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hannu Karpo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edwin Lucan!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucan moves into the clinch successfully.
Karpo scores with a nice hook to the head.
We've been hearing reports that Karpo has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Karpo lands with a light punch inside.
Lucan is trying to drag Karpo to the mat but Karpo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Karpo.
Lucan tries to circle away but Karpo has him pinned against the cage.
Lucan can't get the takedown.
Lucan swings wildly with an uppercut but Karpo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lucan wants to break the clinch but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Karpo.
Lucan is trying to force a seperation but Karpo has the dominant position.
Lucan wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Karpo has him pressed against the cage.
Karpo pushes Lucan back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Lucan wants the takedown. Karpo is fighting it off but Lucan persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Karpo's guard against the cage.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Lucan working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Karpo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Karpo wants to control but Lucan postures up.
Karpo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Karpo is holding on to half guard well.

Lucan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Karpo's head.
It looks like Lucan is going to stand back up.
Lucan seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Karpo is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lucan scores with a couple of nice shots.
Karpo is pressing down on Lucan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Lucan is looking to work some ground and pound but Karpo has wrist control.

Lucan throws an elbow that misses. Karpo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lucan's guard. Nice move by Karpo!

Lucan is trying to hold Karpo in close to prevent damage but Karpo has managed to pass into half guard.
Lucan looks like he's trying to stand up.

Lucan won't allow Karpo to pass to mount.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lucan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Karpo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Karpo prevents Lucan from improving his position.
Karpo seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Lucan is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
