Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Melo Motts (ranked 2089 p4p, 2685 weight class) and Jace The Pace (ranked 103 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Melo Motts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jace The Pace! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Motts shoots in and bounces The Pace off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Motts not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Motts stands and throws The Pace's legs to the side, diving into side control. Motts controlling from side mount. Motts has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. This is a sustained period of stalling by Motts. Motts is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, The Pace has escaped the position, nice work there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The Pace managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Motts.
Motts controls the position. Motts tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Motts controlling the position from side mount. The Pace is looking for a sweep. Motts controlling from side mount. Motts wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by The Pace, who protects the arm well. Motts moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The Pace struggling a bit here. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if The Pace can do anything to dispel that myth. Motts takes a little break here. The Pace wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Motts throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Motts controlling the position from side mount. The Pace is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Motts moves into full mount! The Pace is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Motts controlling the position easily from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Motts seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down The Pace for as long as he can get away with. The Pace tries to get back to half guard but can't. Motts takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The Pace is wriggling around trying to escape.
Motts controlling from mount. Motts looking to secure an arm triangle but The Pace defends it well. Motts tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The Pace has given up his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Motts just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
You can see the frustration on The Pace's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The Pace can't escape the position.
The Pace is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Motts off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Motts biding his time, controlling The Pace. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Melo Motts dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The Pace cracks a nice hook into Motts's ribs. Motts misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. The Pace tries to bum rush Motts with a series of wild strikes but Motts uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Motts looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. The Pace throws a one two combo.
Motts shoots in looking for a takedown. The Pace tries to sprawl out of it but Motts keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. The Pace manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. As Motts backs off The Pace throws a huge counter combo but Motts manages to avoid it all. The Pace displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Motts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Melo Motts. That's going to take a lot out of him. Motts scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Motts is putting a hurting on The Pace here, landing some big shots from side control. The Pace is not content to let Motts control the position. Motts wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by The Pace, who protects the arm well. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Motts trying to control the action but The Pace is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Motts stalls from top position. The Pace gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! The Pace is trying to escape the mount.
Motts can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as The Pace is looking to escape. Motts is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that The Pace can do to turn this around? Motts controlling the pace for now. The Pace working to try and regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Motts controlling the position easily from mount. Motts mounts The Pace! Really nice guard pass there! Motts looking to isolate an arm here. The Pace doesn't see it coming and as Motts extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Motts!
