The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mauer was well out of range. Poor timing from Jackson.
Jackson jabbing away but nothing is landing.

The fighters circling - Jackson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Jackson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mauer circles away quickly and effectively.

Mauer drops down looking for a counter takedown but Jackson sprawls and moves away.

Mauer has Jackson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jackson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Mauer has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jackson uses from the top position.

Mauer is really struggling to control Jackson but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Jackson is looking for a sweep. Mauer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Jackson throws a pinpoint strike between Mauer's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Mauer crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Jackson scores a great knockout victory!
