Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Troy Marquez (ranked 695 p4p, 1790 weight class) and James Hunt (ranked 96 p4p, 252 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Troy Marquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Hunt! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hunt throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Marquez looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Marquez takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hunt throws a head kick that misses. Marquez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hunt but Hunt pushes him off and we're back to square one. Marquez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hunt tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Marquez is in Hunt's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marquez wants to pass the guard but Hunt is keeping the position. Marquez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hunt told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Marquez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Hunt is trying to keep Marquez in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marquez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Marquez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Marquez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marquez looking to pass the guard. Marquez is looking to work some ground and pound but Hunt has wrist control. Hunt keeping moving, preventing Marquez from controlling successfully. Hunt utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Marquez trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Marquez throws a strike but Hunt rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Marquez is pulling down on Hunt's head to control his posture. Marquez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hunt is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunt would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Marquez trying to control the position here. Marquez wants to sweep but no luck. Hunt stands up from guard. Let's bang! Hunt swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Marquez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hunt tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Marquez is in Hunt's guard. Marquez advances position into side control! Marquez looks up at the clock and then as Hunt takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Marquez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marquez is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hunt will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Marquez throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Marquez has knee on belly and moves into mount. Marquez looking to finish with strikes here!
Marquez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Marquez unloads with some shots from mount but Hunt bucks and avoids them well.
Marquez sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Marquez content just to control the position here. Marquez throwing strikes but Hunt uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Marquez missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Marquez lands a nice short elbow. Well, if Marquez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Hunt is in trouble now - Marquez has advanced to mount! Marquez looking to control and managing it successfully. Hunt is looking to get to half guard. Marquez wants to control the pace but Hunt is squirming around nicely. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Marquez punching from mount but Hunt doing a good job of avoiding damage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Troy Marquez dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Marquez. Hunt stuffs the takedown attempt from Marquez. Marquez gets slowly back to his feet. Hunt misses with an uppercut. Hunt lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Marquez gets a clinch. A short uppercut from Hunt. Hunt lands with a right to the head. Marquez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hunt is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Troy Marquez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Marquez gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hunt regains guard.
Marquez with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Marquez lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Marquez is looking to work some ground and pound but Hunt has wrist control. Marquez with a flurry of punches that miss. Hunt working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Marquez. That's one minute gone in the round. Marquez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Hunt looking for a sweep. Not yet Hunt, not yet. Hunt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marquez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Marquez chips away with some ground and pound. Marquez distracts Hunt with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Marquez landing with the ground and pound. Marquez throwing strikes but missing. Marquez looking to pass the guard. Hunt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Hunt keeping full guard, as Marquez tries to pass.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Hunt throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Marquez shoots in but no luck this time. Marquez drives through and clinches with Hunt against the cage.
Hunt lands on the inside with an uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunt has a couple of punches blocked by Marquez.
Hunt lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Hunt swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Hunt has had enough of the clinch but Marquez keeps him there for the moment. Hunt fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Hunt tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Marquez's elbow. Hunt misses with a short punch on the inside. Hunt misses with a short punch on the inside. Marquez blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Marquez has Hunt pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hunt manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Marquez blocking some punches.

Marquez has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hunt clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marquez avoiding Hunt 's attempts to control his hands. Marquez controlling the position well here. Hunt rolled but Marquez kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

This has been an exciting period of action! Marquez throwing wild punches that miss their target. Marquez thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marquez is landing with strikes from the back. Hunt is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Marquez.
Marquez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hunt can do to turn this around? Marquez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Troy Marquez will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round! Hunt misses with a straight left. Marquez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hunt napping and manages to drive through into side control! Hunt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Marquez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Marquez misses with the ground and pound. Marquez scores with punches from side control. Marquez is looking to take a break and control but Hunt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Marquez is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hunt's shoulder. That is not cool. Marquez works his way to full guard. Good work. Hunt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Marquez is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Hunt wanted to stand there but Marquez had control of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunt controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Marquez pulls Hunt in to control the position. Marquez wants to sweep but no luck. Hunt trying to control but Marquez is working from the bottom. Hunt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunt is looking to pass into half guard but Marquez pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Marquez is in guard. Marquez controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Marquez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. James Hunt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Marquez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Marquez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hunt for as long as he can get away with. Marquez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Marquez doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hunt counters with a three punch combo that has Marquez backing up. Marquez nods at Hunt to acknowledge the strikes. Marquez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Check out the look on Marquez's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Hunt avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Marquez. Hunt parries the strikes from Marquez easily there. Marquez is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hunt to escape.

Hunt has hold of Marquez's hands but Marquez slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Marquez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Marquez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Troy Marquez. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Marquez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
