Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Spencer Rubenstein (ranked 181 p4p, 445 weight class) and Rhymin Slayin (ranked 32 p4p, 75 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Spencer Rubenstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rhymin Slayin!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slayin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rubenstein.
Rubenstein connects with the punch.
Slayin with a nice calf kick.
Slayin takes one on the button.

It looks like Rhymin Slayin has been cut.
Rubenstein throws out a loose jab but Slayin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Slayin lands a jab.
Rubenstein throws a right and a left that both miss.
Slayin appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Rubenstein avoids the head kick by Slayin.
Rubenstein is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Slayin.
Rubenstein tries to bum rush Slayin with a series of wild strikes but Slayin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

I was talking to Rubenstein's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Slayin drops Rubenstein with a beautiful combination! Rubenstein stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Slayin is looking for the KO!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Slayin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Oh Rubenstein is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Slayin misses with a knee to the head.
Rubenstein seems to have got his legs back now.
Slayin misses with the head strike.
Slayin tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Slayin scores with a shoulder strike.
Slayin lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Slayin using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Rubenstein has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Rubenstein breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rubenstein lands a right hook to the body.
Slayin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rubenstein to score with a decent uppercut.

A little feinted left hand from Rubenstein on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Rubenstein counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Rubenstein looks to throw the jab but Slayin is out of range.
Slayin staying out of range there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rhymin Slayin dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Rubenstein misses with a right hand
and Slayin counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Slayin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rubenstein has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Slayin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Slayin doesn't manage to clinch there - Rubenstein circles away.
Rubenstein was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Slayin lands a big head kick that sends Rubenstein tumbling to the mat! Slayin takes a step backwards and waves Rubenstein back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Rubenstein is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Rubenstein lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Slayin looks to land a combination but Rubenstein avoids it well.
Rubenstein swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Slayin moves out of range as Rubenstein throws a body kick.
Slayin fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rubenstein.

Rubenstein works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Slayin swings away with a body shot that misses
and Rubenstein counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Rubenstein clobbers Slayin with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Slayin throws a head kick but Rubenstein moves out of range.

Slayin throws a big counter head kick but Rubenstein avoids it with no problem.
Rubenstein throws a jab when Slayin was well out of range.

Slayin lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Slayin moves into the clinch.

Rubenstein escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Slayin throws a low kick but it's checked well by Rubenstein.
Slayin throws a hook to the side of Rubenstein's head but Rubenstein sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rubenstein blocks a head kick by Slayin.
Rubenstein scores with a head kick. Slayin tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Slayin moves out of range as Rubenstein strikes.

enabling Slayin to counter with a crisp jab.

Rubenstein has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Slayin lands a hook that snaps the head of Rubenstein backwards.

Slayin lands an elbow inside that Rubenstein shrugs off.
Slayin working the clinch nicely. Rubenstein is working for position but Slayin cracks him with a big knee to the head! Rubenstein crumples up against the cage and Slayin lands two more shots before the ref can save Rubenstein! This one is all over!

After the fight, Rhymin Slayin was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
