Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ty Moon (ranked 1569 p4p, 1982 weight class) and Semba Rua (ranked 211 p4p, 280 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ty Moon! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Semba Rua! The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moon jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
It looks like Semba Rua has been cut. Moon walks into a straight right hand from Rua. Rua looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Rua with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. It looks like Rua might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rua is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Moon has managed to free his arm - good work. Rua is working for a submission of some sort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua slows the pace down in half guard. Moon won't allow Rua to pass to mount. Rua is working for a kimura but Moon is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Moon wants to get back to his feet. Still in half guard, Rua seems content to control. Rua is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Moon sees it coming and defends easily. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rua is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Moon being controlled for a moment. Moon tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Rua is working for a guillotine from mount but Moon frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Rua working for a submission but Moon is keeping him at bay.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua content just to control the position here. Rua is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Moon has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Rua controlling from mount. Rua swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Semba Rua! Semba Rua is the new middleweight champion! In his post fight interview, Semba Rua started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
