Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Horrible takedown attempt by Cubbedge or perhaps it was just good defense by Gatsby, which made it look bad. Cubbedge misses with a takedown attempt and Gatsby counters with a single leg into guard. Cubbedge didn't expect that. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Cubbedge (0) vs (2) Gatsby Cubbedge has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Cubbedge keeping moving, preventing Gatsby from controlling successfully. Gatsby looking to pass the guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gatsby sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cubbedge 's guard. Gatsby is trying to control. Cubbedge wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cubbedge tries to get to full guard but Gatsby has control of the leg. Gatsby is working for a kimura but Cubbedge is defending it quite comfortably.
Gatsby is just content to waste time from the top position. Cubbedge takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Gatsby looking to pass the guard. Cubbedge can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gatsby controls the pace. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
