Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joshua Alexander! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ivan Dragonov! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alexander fails in his attempt to clinch. Alexander with a poor takedown and Dragonov counters with a straight right hand. Joshua Alexander seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alexander misses with a takedown attempt - Dragonov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. No luck with that takedown attempt from Alexander. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joshua Alexander. That's going to take a lot out of him. Alexander fails in his attempt to clinch. Alexander looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Alexander looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Dragonov with the counter takedown but Alexander avoids it easily. Alexander tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Dragonov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Alexander thinking. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alexander wants to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dragonov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alexander moves away. Alexander wants to clinch. Dragonov circles away from the clinch attempt and Dragonov counters with a stiff right hand. Dragonov lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Alexander at a distance.
Alexander closes the distance and clinches up with Dragonov, looking for a takedown. Alexander pushes Dragonov against the cage but Dragonov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Dragonov changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Alexander steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dragonov. Alexander tries to clinch but Dragonov moves out of range. Alexander fails with a takedown attempt. Dragonov changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alexander misses with a takedown and Dragonov makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Alexander is breathing heavily. Alexander shoots and misses and Dragonov counters with a straight right hand. A jab lands there for Dragonov. Dragonov connects with a body shot. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dragonov lands a big right hand that sends Alexander crashing to the mat! Dragonov stays standing though and waves Alexander back to his feet!
Alexander is rocked! Dragonov looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Dragonov fakes the body blow, causing Alexander to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Alexander goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
