Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sufjan Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Skelter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stevens comes to the cage accompanied by They Are Zombies. Skelter has chosen The Beatles - "Helter Skelter" as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sufjan Stevens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Skelter! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevens dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Skelter. That did some damage! Skelter slaps away a takedown attempt from Stevens, before circling back to the center of the mat. Stevens throws a head kick that misses. Stevens tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Sufjan Stevens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A lazy left from Skelter finds it's target. Stevens is looking to clinch but Skelter is avoiding it.
Skelter moves out of range of the body kick. A head kick misses from Stevens. Skelter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Skelter defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Stevens. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sufjan Stevens. That's going to take a lot out of him. A jab from Skelter does it's job there. Skelter misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's one minute gone in the round. Stevens throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Stevens throws a hook but Skelter avoids it easily. Stevens shoots in looking for a takedown. Skelter tries to sprawl out of it but Stevens keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Skelter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Skelter blocks a head kick by Stevens.
Stevens attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Stevens shoots in but no luck this time. Stevens is breathing heavily. Skelter lands a jab to the head.
Stevens shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Skelter as he avoids it easily. Skelter bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Nice combo by Skelter! Oh, that's hurt him - Stevens falls to the canvas and Skelter follows him into side control.
Stevens is rocked! Skelter lands an elbow. Stevens can't do much from the bottom here. Stevens manages to get back to half guard. Skelter moves nicely into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stevens is not content to let Skelter control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Skelter lands an elbow. This has been an exciting period of action! Check out the look on Skelter's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Stevens sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Skelter looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Skelter winds up and cracks Stevens with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Skelter lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Stevens is staying active underneath Skelter, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Stevens trying to control from the bottom.
Skelter throwing shots but Stevens is blocking nicely. Skelter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stevens keeps working. Stevens missing with punches from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Skelter avoids the head kick by Stevens.
Stevens misses with a looping left. Stevens swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Skelter tries to bum rush Stevens with a series of wild strikes but Stevens uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Stevens tries to clinch up. Stevens closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Skelter did well to prevent Stevens getting side control. Stevens trying to mount his opponent but Skelter defends it. Stevens sitting and controlling from the half guard. Skelter is pressing down on Stevens's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Stevens is looking to work some ground and pound but Skelter has wrist control. Skelter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Skelter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Skelter wants to stand but Stevens is controlling the position. Stevens trying to control the position from guard on top but Skelter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Skelter trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Stevens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Stevens throws a big right hand that misses.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Skelter takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Stevens shoots in but Skelter avoids the takedown attempt easily. Stevens fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Stevens pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Skelter connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Stevens's hands. Skelter looks to land a combination but Stevens avoids it well. Skelter throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stevens. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimmy Skelter dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Skelter digs a good body shot into Stevens's ribs. Skelter looks to land a right hand but Stevens moved out of range. Stevens shoots in for a takedown but Skelter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Stevens walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Skelter throws a low kick but it's checked well by Stevens. Skelter avoids the head kick by Stevens.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Stevens lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Skelter has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Skelter and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Jimmy Skelter seems to be getting the better of the standup. Skelter lands a jab to the head.
Skelter looks to land a combination but Stevens avoids it well. Stevens swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Skelter counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Some wild striking there from Skelter.
Stevens dodges the punch combination from Skelter.
Stevens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Skelter scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stevens fails with the takedown and Skelter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Skelter scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Stevens shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Skelter counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sufjan Stevens. That's going to take a lot out of him. Skelter displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Skelter lands a head shot. A punch combination from Skelter misses. Skelter scores with a jab. Stevens acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Stevens throws a head kick but Skelter moves out of range.

Sufjan Stevens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Stevens has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Stevens there as he acknowledges the shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Stevens gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Skelter counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Stevens thinking. No joy there for Skelter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Skelter circles away from the clinch attempt and Skelter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Stevens tries to land a leg kick but Skelter saw it coming and moves away.
Stevens takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Skelter swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Stevens. Skelter swings away with a leg kick that misses. Stevens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A left and a right from Skelter both land. Nice combination. Skelter scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Stevens misses with a takedown attempt enabling Skelter to counter with a crisp jab. Stevens moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Skelter moves into range and connects with a jab. Stevens looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Skelter fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Stevens is out of range. Skelter throws out a powerful jab. Stevens misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Skelter uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Stevens pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stevens looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Skelter wants to get back to full guard. Skelter regains full guard. Nicely done. Skelter wants to sweep here but Stevens controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stevens trying to control the position from guard on top but Skelter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevens pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Skelter is keeping the position for now. Stevens thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Skelter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stevens is one step ahead there. Skelter thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Stevens with a poor takedown and Skelter cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Skelter lands with a nice combination. Stevens backs away looking to recover. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Skelter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Skelter jabs at Stevens's body. Skelter throws a series of punches but Stevens moves out of range. Stevens wants to clinch but Skelter slips to the side and Skelter counters with a series of strikes. Stevens will be more careful next time no doubt. Stevens fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Some bone on bone action there as Skelter checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Skelter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
