The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Thighpunch misses.
Pinales fails with a takedown attempt.
Thighpunch lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pinales circles away quickly and effectively.
Pinales ducks right into an uppercut from Thighpunch.

It looks like Javier Pinales has been cut.

Pinales closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pinales lands in his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pinales postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Thighpunch is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pinales, into his guard.

Thighpunch is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Pinales has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Thighpunch is looking to defend but Pinales has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Thighpunch! Pinales pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Thighpunch taps out and this one is all over!

A determined Javier Pinales didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
