Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Mckean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, John Ishmael!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mckean looking to score a takedown here. Ishmael is defending well but Mckean drives through and ends up in Ishmael's guard.
Ishmael wants to sweep here but Mckean controlling him for the moment.
Mckean trying to control but Ishmael is working from the bottom.
Mckean pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ishmael is keeping the position for now.
Ishmael wants to sweep but no luck.
Mckean trying to control the position from guard on top but Ishmael is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mckean won't allow Ishmael to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mckean sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ishmael's guard.

Mckean is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ishmael is pressing down on Mckean's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Ishmael looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mckean is one step ahead there.
Mckean works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Mckean is pressing down on Ishmael's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ishmael is holding on for now.
Ishmael tries to roll over but Mckean keeps him under control.

Mckean is looking for a kimura here.
Mckean is nestled in close to Ishmael, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Mckean is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ishmael makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ishmael.

Mckean advances to half guard.
Mckean blocks the strikes from Ishmael.
Ishmael wants to improve his position but Mckean is controlling well.
Ishmael is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mckean moves into full mount! Ishmael won't be happy about that!
Mckean unloads with some shots from mount but Ishmael bucks and avoids them well.
Ishmael tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Mckean has control of Ishmael's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ishmael regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ishmael really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mckean. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mckean throwing strikes here but Ishmael is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Mckean tries to control but Ishmael wriggling away.
Ishmael gets back to half guard.
Ishmael is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mckean looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Mckean has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Ishmael defend it? Mckean steps over the head and cranks it - Ishmael is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Mckean!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). James Mckean!
James Mckean decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
