The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shamrock told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

You can see the frustration on Bellafontane's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

That was a close round but I would say that Sam Bellafontane will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Shamrock leaves Bellafontane with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Shamrock thuds his right hand into Bellafontane's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Shamrock swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Despite the aggression on Shamrock's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shamrock closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Bellafontane! Shamrock dives in looking to finish! Bellafontane is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
