PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Morgan (ranked 283 p4p, 407 weight class) and Donnie Larkin (ranked 37 p4p, 53 weight class). Morgan comes to the cage accompanied by Battle Cry. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arthur Morgan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Donnie Larkin!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Larkin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Larkin lands in his opponent's guard.

Morgan looking for a guillotine here but Larkin defends easily.
Larkin chips away with some ground and pound.

Larkin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Morgan has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

It seemed like Larkin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Larkin feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Morgans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Larkin is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Morgan rather than just go for the knockout.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Arthur Morgan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donnie Larkin.

Larkin has Morgan pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Larkin pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Morgan tumbling to the mat - Larkin dives into Morgan's guard.

Morgan isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Larkin stacks Morgan on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Larkin!
We've been hearing good reports from Morgan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Larkin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Morgan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
