The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heatherman dives in for a single leg takedown but Del Valle sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Del Valle half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Heatherman looks to clinch
and Del Valle counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Del Valle .
Heatherman is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Heatherman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Heatherman lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Heatherman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Del Valle as he avoids it easily.

Heatherman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Del Valle sprawls well. Del Valle wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Heatherman gets slowly back to his feet.
Gosuke Del Valle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Heatherman.

Heatherman ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Heatherman wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Heatherman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Heatherman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Del Valle is fending him off so far but Heatherman persists. Nope, Del Valle circles away and we're back to standing.

Del Valle wants to control from the top but Heatherman keeps moving.

Del Valle has gone for a leg lock! Heatherman slips out almost immediately though and dives into Del Valle 's guard.
Heatherman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Del Valle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Heatherman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Heatherman is sitting in close to Del Valle 's body. Del Valle has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Heatherman is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Heatherman is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Del Valle .
