PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joel Kling (ranked 5245 p4p, 5244 weight class) and Roman Rakic (ranked 596 p4p, 594 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rakic ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kling moves away.
Kling tries a head kick but it misses.
Rakic tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Kling connects with a body shot that sends Rakic's belly button to the back.
Rakic is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kling sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Kling pushes Rakic up against the cage in a clinch.

Rakic has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kling is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Kling parries the strikes from Rakic easily there. Rakic is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kling to escape.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kling shoots in looking for a takedown but Rakic manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kling's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Rakic moves into range and clinches up with Kling.
Kling wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rakic has him pressed against the cage.
Rakic tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Rakic's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kling shoots in but Rakic avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Kling rushes Rakic and presses him up against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round but I would say that Joel Kling will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kling is striking from the bottom but Rakic uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kling tries to get to full guard but Rakic has control of the leg.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kling gets back to full guard.
Kling striking off his back but it's not causing Rakic any problems.

Kling is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rakic is aware though and is defending well.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Rakic shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kling as he jumps to the side.
Rakic darts in looking for a takedown but Kling gets double underhooks and turns Rakic into the cage.
Kling throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rakic's waist but Rakic gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kling off to one side.

Kling closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rakic prevents a takedown attempt there.
Rakic has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kling after a bit of a struggle.

And that's the end of the fight!
Joel Kling showed his dominance in that final round.
