Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tji Telheiras (ranked 4363 p4p, 4533 weight class) and Ray Turn (ranked 429 p4p, 448 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ray Turn !
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Santiago Holmes and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Turn pushes Telheiras up against the cage in a clinch.

Turn has clasped his hands together around Telheiras's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Telheiras tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Turn working the head and body with strikes.
Turn looks up at the clock and then as Telheiras takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Turn smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Telheiras is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Turn asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Telheiras is looking to regain half guard here but Turn keeps moving and retains side control.

Turn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Telheiras, who protects the arm well.
An elbow from Turn crashes against the mat.
What's Telheiras going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Turn trying to control the position but Telheiras is working away.
Telheiras is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Turn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Telheiras tries to buck Turn off but Turn is having none of it.
Telheiras is trying to control Turn 's posture but Turn avoids it.
Turn trying to control the action but Telheiras is working from the bottom.
Telheiras tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Turn wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Turn is chipping away with strikes.
Turn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Telheiras keeps working.

Turn is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Telheiras has escaped the position, nice work there.

Turn is trying to get an arm triangle but Telheiras is defending well.

Telheiras avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Turn .
Turn works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Telheiras wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Telheiras on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Telheiras tries to get out of the position.
Turn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Telheiras keeps working.

Turn tries for a kimura but Telheiras is defending well.
Turn wants to control but Telheiras is keeping him busy.

The strikes coming from Turn are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Turn trying to control the position but Telheiras is working away.

Turn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Telheiras knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Turn tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Telheiras knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Turn on the ground.

Telheiras gets back to half guard.
Telheiras is looking to control Turn 's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Telheiras avoid being mounted?
Telheiras wants to improve his position but Turn is controlling well.
Telheiras could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Turn is working for a kimura but Telheiras is defending it quite comfortably.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Turn wants to take a breather but Telheiras is having none of it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Turn dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Telheiras shoots in but no luck this time.
Turn moves in looking to clinch but Telheiras pushes him off.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Turn .
Telheiras shoots for a takedown but Turn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Telheiras shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Turn pinned against the cage. Turn gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tji Telheiras. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Turn fails with the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Telheiras moves into the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Telheiras takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Turn can't find room to land a body shot as Telheiras controls the action.

Turn gets underhooks to prevent Telheiras's takedown attempt.
Telheiras is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Turn is trying to drag Telheiras to the mat but Telheiras just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Turn changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Telheiras fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Telheiras forces Turn back against the cage and clinches.
Turn has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Telheiras after a bit of a struggle.

Telheiras pulls guard.
Telheiras is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Turn postures up in Telheiras's guard and throws a big left but Telheiras blocks it.
Telheiras looking to hit a scissor sweep but Turn is one step ahead there.
Telheiras keeping full guard, as Turn tries to pass.

Turn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Turn wants to control from the top but Telheiras keeps moving.
Turn is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Turn throws a big right hand that misses.
Turn makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Telheiras is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Turn manages to get to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Turn working a defensive guard here.
Turn throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Turn is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Telheiras defends well.
Turn is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Turn keeping moving, preventing Telheiras from controlling successfully.
Telheiras wants to pass the guard but Turn is keeping the position.
Turn is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Turn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Turn wants to control but Telheiras is keeping him busy.
Turn has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Telheiras has hold of Turn 's hands but Turn slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Turn tries to pass the half guard into mount. Telheiras knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Telheiras is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ray Turn will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Turn rushes Telheiras and presses him up against the cage.
Turn tries to score a body lock takedown but Telheiras shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Turn goes for a takedown attempt but Telheiras pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Telheiras moves into the clinch.
Turn prevents a takedown attempt there.
The referee calls for Telheiras to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Telheiras is pressed up against the cage. Turn has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Telheiras down to the mat. Telheiras avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tji Telheiras has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Turn .

Telheiras tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Turn gets tackled into the cage by Telheiras. Telheiras maintains the clinch.
Turn drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Turn wants a takedown but no success here.
Turn working aggressively here.
Turn has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Telheiras after a bit of a struggle.
Telheiras is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Turn is defending well for now.

Telheiras works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Turn manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Turn using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Telheiras has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Telheiras lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Turn .

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Telheiras pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Telheiras clinches up against the cage.

Telheiras decides to pull guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Turn trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Turn trying to control the position from guard on top but Telheiras is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Turn drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Turn seems to have locked his on tight now - Telheiras screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Turn , as he picks up the win!
