PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rav Kapur (ranked 4621 p4p, 4758 weight class) and Lee Tassen (ranked 449 p4p, 465 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rav Kapur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lee Tassen!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kapur shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tassen defends it nicely.
Tassen drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kapur defends it well.
Kapur fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And Tassen tries to counter it with a takedown but Kapur pushes his down on his head and steps out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tassen lands a nice hook to Kapur's body. Kapur takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Tassen with a jab.

It looks like Rav Kapur has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kapur dives in and grabs Tassen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tassen pushes down on Kapur's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rav Kapur. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kapur throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tassen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Tassen should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Kapur doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Kapur dodges the punch combination from Tassen.
Kapur drops down looking for a counter takedown but Tassen sprawls and moves away.
Kapur throws an overhand right that lands on Tassen's shoulder, as Tassen tries to avoid the shot.
And Tassen tries to counter it with a takedown but Kapur pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Kapur fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kapur feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Tassens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Tassen throws a series of strikes that have Kapur backpedaling.
Tassen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Tassen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Kapur on the wrong end of a nice jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tassen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kapur.
Tassen defending well as Kapur loads up on a big left hand.
Tassen tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
A big right from Kapur misses.
Kapur jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Tassen feints the counter takedown.
Tassen throws a hook but Kapur blocks it.

Tassen gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tassen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kapur trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kapur is pushing down on Tassen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tassen is fighting to maintain full guard but Kapur has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kapur is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Tassen has managed to free his arm - good work.
Tassen is trying to stand back up but Kapur is controlling him
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Tassen dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rav Kapur's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!

Tassen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kapur moves away.

Kapur shoots in and bounces Tassen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kapur stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tassen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tassen can't keep his opponent in guard - Kapur advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tassen is looking to get back to is feet but Kapur passes into side control.

Kapur tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kapur tries for a kimura but Tassen is defending well.

Kapur is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tassen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Tassen is trying to get back to his feet.
Kapur will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kapur is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Tassen is trying to escape and Kapur transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Tassen is forced to tap! Nice work there by Kapur! Very nice indeed!
