PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Kluba (ranked 1503 p4p, 913 weight class) and Gustav Line (ranked 216 p4p, 138 weight class). Kluba comes to the cage accompanied by Kiss The Girl. Line has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sebastian Kluba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gustav Line!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Line buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Line blocks a low kick nicely.
Line has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Line ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Kluba goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Kluba throws a push kick but Line slaps the foot to one side.
Line paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kluba moves away from the strike by Line.
It looked like Kluba wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Line pushes Kluba away with a front kick.
Kluba takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Line looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kluba misses with a low kick.
Good shot there by Line.

It looks like Sebastian Kluba has been cut.
Line swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kluba is looking to counter with a body kick.
Kluba avoids the head kick by Line.

Kluba avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Line changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Kluba drops his hands momentarily and Line takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Line closes the distance and clinches.
Kluba lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Line misses with some punches.
Line fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Line jumps guard but Kluba turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Line tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Line lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Line swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Line ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Line no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kluba avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kluba wants to pass the guard but Line is keeping the position.
Line looking to control.

Line is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Line wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kluba is now in half guard.
Line has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kluba is working away from the top position though.

Kluba moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Line.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Line tries to buck Kluba off but Kluba is having none of it.
Line is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kluba is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
We've been hearing that Kluba has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Line regains half guard.
Line is looking to get back to full guard here but Kluba has managed to pass to side control instead.
Line tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Kluba presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Line is desperately trying to improve his position but Kluba has a good base and remains in mount.

Line stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kluba.
Line has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kluba fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Line manages to avoid it.
A head kick misses from Line.
Kluba was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Line lands a head kick. Kluba smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Line lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Kluba throws a lazy uppercut
and Line counters with a nice uppercut.
Kluba tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Line is able to avoid easily.
Line throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Kluba is looking to counter punch.
Line lands with a hook. Kluba tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Kluba throws a half hearted mid kick.

Line moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Line tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kluba takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Gustav Line seems to be getting the better of the standup.

The crowd cheers as Line lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kluba doesn't seem phased though.

Kluba wants to slow Line down by chopping away at his legs.

and Line counters with a one-two to the body.

Line tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kluba paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Line jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kluba walks away with a smile on his face. Line gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kluba tries to land a leg kick but Line saw it coming and moves away.
Kluba takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Kluba moves out of range as Line throws a body kick.
Line misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Line misses with a straight left.
Line scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Kluba fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Line.
Kluba connects with a body shot that sends Line's belly button to the back.
Gustav Line seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Line tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kluba feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Kluba misses the shot to the body.
Line fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Line walks into a left hand.
Line bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kluba's head backwards.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Line tries to clinch but Kluba moves out of range.
An inside leg kick lands from Line.
Line misses with an attempted mid kick.
Line throws an off balance right hand
and Kluba counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Good exchange - Line coming out on top.
Line looks to land a right hand but Kluba moved out of range.
Kluba takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Kluba on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Line tries to clinch up.
It looked like Kluba wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Gustav Line showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Line explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Line lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Line throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Line moves into range and clinches up with Kluba.

Line successfully pulls guard.

Line looking for subs off his back but Kluba has passed one foot through into half guard.
Line wants to control the action here but instead Kluba manages to pass to full mount!

Kluba can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Line is looking to escape.
Kluba controlling the pace for now.
Line really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Kluba trying to control but Line is having none of it.
Kluba tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kluba avoids the attempt from Line to control.
Kluba takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Line is in all sorts of trouble here.
Line wants to control but Kluba is having none of it.

Line tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Line regains half guard.
Line is looking for a sweep. Kluba is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kluba content to control rather than advance.
Line is trying to control but can't.
Sebastian Kluba has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kluba with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Sebastian Kluba overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Line tries to roll over but Kluba keeps him under control.

Kluba moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Line.
Line tries to buck Kluba off but Kluba is having none of it.
Kluba has control of an arm but Line manages to advance to Kluba's back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I would just about give that final round to Gustav Line.
I've got Line winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Gustav Line rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
