PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between New Breed One (ranked 1023 p4p, 884 weight class) and Niko Alzate (ranked 62 p4p, 51 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, New Breed One!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Niko Alzate!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alzate throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Alzate misses with a straight left.
Alzate connects with a single shot there.
Alzate throws a lazy right hand but One sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! One crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Alzate - the referee stops the clock and One gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Alzate. One manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
A solid leg kick lands there for Alzate.

and One counters with a takedown into side control.
Alzate is looking to reverse the position.

One cracks Alzate with a big right hand but Alzate just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
One wants to control but Alzate is keeping him busy.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

One is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alzate is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

One tries for a kimura but Alzate is defending well.
Alzate is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

One wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alzate keeps working.
One throws a strike aimed at the side of Alzate's head but Alzate avoids it well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

One wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Alzate, who protects the arm well.
One postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Alzate wants to control but One postures up.
Alzate is not content to let One control the position.

One tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no One has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

One wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Alzate, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alzate is trying to control One's posture but One avoids it.
Alzate might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control One haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
One defending well as Alzate loads up on a big left hand.
Alzate walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. One checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Alzate, as that shot connected.
One misses with a body shot.
Alzate stuffs the takedown attempt from One. One gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alzate fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt One.
Alzate feints and then cracks One's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow One down.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that New Breed One will probably get the nod.

Alzate throws a solid leg kick but One takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Alzate.

One attempts a counter takedown but Alzate avoids it well and moves away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

One fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Alzate sprawls well initially but One persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

One is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Alzate doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time One.

New Breed One overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A relieved looking New Breed One thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
