PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Scott (ranked 4835 p4p, 23341 weight class) and Isadore James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Gangsta's Paradise - Coolio. James has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. David Scott has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scott tries to bum rush James with a series of wild strikes but James uses good footwork to avoid the assault. James looks winded! Scott drives through with a takedown into guard. Scott is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if James can do anything to dispel that myth. Scott stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard. Scott is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Scott pushes down on James's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scott sitting and controlling from the half guard. Scott works his way into full mount! James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Scott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. James working to try and regain half guard.
James has left one of his arms exposed and Scott doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. James screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). David Scott! A very excited looking David Scott made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
