Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Solomon Meite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miuk Yochida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Solomon Meite!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miuk Yochida!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meite throws a right and a left that both miss.
Yochida closes the distance and clinches up with Meite, looking for a takedown. Yochida pushes Meite against the cage but Meite circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Yochida shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Yochida jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Meite is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Meite and Yochida has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Yochida tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Yochida has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Meite is looking to reverse the position.

Yochida looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Meite is avoiding damage well.
Yochida slows the pace down.
Meite is pushing Yochida's head away, looking to escape. Yochida manages to hold on to the position though.
Meite manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Meite is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Yochida reverses the position - he's now on top in Meite's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Meite is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Meite looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Yochida shoots for a takedown but Meite saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Meite feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Meite gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

The fight stays on the outside here - Meite looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Yochida seems a little lost for a moment, as Meite dominates the positioning.

Yochida is doing well to control the position and prevent Meite from advancing to side control.

Meite seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Meite is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Meite is pressing down on Yochida's thigh, looking to free his foot. Yochida is holding on for now.

and Meite counters with a single leg into guard. Yochida didn't expect that.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Meite has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Yochida works to full guard.

Yochida doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Yochida is looking to improve his position but Meite isn't that keen on the idea.

Meite throwing strikes here but Yochida is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

and Yochida counters with a nice double leg into side control. Meite won't be happy with that.

Meite has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Yochida is proving hard to escape from.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yochida looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Yochida stops Meite from getting back to his feet.

Meite throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Yochida's waist but Yochida gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Meite off to one side.

Yochida gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Meite scores with an uppercut up the middle.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Meite takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Yochida changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Meite fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Solomon Meite seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Yochida closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Yochida lands in his opponent's guard.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Meite pushes Yochida away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Yochida gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Meite is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Yochida has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Meite instigates a clinch.

Meite's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Meite closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Meite with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Yochida tries for a takedown but Meite manages to get underhooks.
Meite cracks Yochida with a nice body shot.
Yochida has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Meite avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Yochida tries to score a body lock takedown but Meite shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Solomon Meite has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miuk Yochida.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
Meite manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Meite manages to break the clinch.

Meite scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Meite stands up and beckons Yochida to his feet.

Yochida tries to keep at a distance but Meite has taken the fight into the clinch.

Meite breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Yochida counters with a shoot takedown. Meite fights it but they end up in guard.

and Yochida counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Meite's guard now.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Meite wants to stand but Yochida is controlling the position.

Meite working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yochida doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yochida manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Yochida is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Yochida won't allow Meite to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Yochida drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Meite is not content to let Yochida control the position.
Meite is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Yochida has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Meite looking for a sweep but Yochida has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Meite tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Meite is trying to stand up.
Meite tries to hold on but Yochida postures up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Miuk Yochida comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Yochida has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
