Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricky Dias! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Johnson! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jonathan Paton and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson shoots in but Dias avoids the takedown attempt easily. Johnson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Dias closes the distance and pushes Johnson back into the cage. Dias goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Dias has had enough of the clinch but Johnson keeps him there for the moment. Dias throws a punch but it's blocked by Johnson. Johnson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Dias gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Johnson works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Dias is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea. Johnson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Dias is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea. Dias is looking for a triangle here but Johnson uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dias is looking to regain half guard here but Johnson keeps moving and retains side control. Dias tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Johnson looking to control but Dias is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Johnson is trying to take his opponent's back.
Dias is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Johnson wants to take Dias's back but he can't do it this time. Johnson trying to control but Dias is having none of it. Dias reaches up to try and control the position but Johnson seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Dias rolls and tries to escape and now Johnson has his back!
Johnson missing with strikes from the back. Dias is trying to get back to his feet but Johnson has full control of the position and if anything, Dias has just worked his way into a worse spot. Dias is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Johnson.
