Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Dean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jayson Smith!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dean tries a head kick but it misses.
Smith with the counter takedown but Dean avoids it easily.
Dean seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Smith throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Dean tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smith is in Dean's guard.
Smith wants to control from the top but Dean keeps moving.
Dean utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Smith trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Smith loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Smith won't allow Dean to get back to his feet.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Smith trying to move into half guard but instead Dean has managed to sweep!


That's one minute gone in the round.
Dean won't allow Smith to sweep him here.
Smith has a closed guard, preventing Dean from standing up.
Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dean is one step ahead there.
Smith is adopting a defensive guard.
Dean trying to stand up but can't free himself from Smith's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Smith scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Dean lands a nice shot that snaps Smith's head back.

Smith closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dean did well to prevent Smith getting side control.
Dean is in trouble now - Smith has advanced to mount!
Smith throwing strikes here but Dean is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Dean is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Smith scoring with strikes but Dean is staying in there.
Dean knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.
Smith unloads with some shots from mount but Dean bucks and avoids them well.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Smith throws some wild stikes that Dean manages to avoid easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Smith is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Dean has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Dean!
Smith pulls Dean in close to prevent any damage.
Dean is looking to stand up but Smith won't let him.
Dean preventing the sweep.
Smith working a defensive guard here.
Smith is pulling down on Dean's head. It's preventing any offense from Dean, at least for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Smith has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Dean would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Smith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smith controlling Dean's posture.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jayson Smith dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Dean changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Dean clobbers Smith with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

It looks like Jayson Smith has been cut.
Dean misses with a double jab.
Good exchange - Dean coming out on top.
Smith darts in looking for a takedown but Dean gets double underhooks and turns Smith into the ropes.
Dean connects with a looping right hand.
Smith takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Whack! Dean lands a heavy head kick that drops Smith. The ref tackles Dean to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Smith was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Brian Dean!
During a confident post fight interview, Brian Dean thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
