The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nutnini closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Aveiro to the mat! Aveiro manages to get full guard. Nutnini wants to control from the top but Aveiro keeps moving. Nutnini content to stall in guard here. Nutnini tries to free his leg and advance position but Aveiro is retaining full guard. Aveiro wants to get back to his feet but Nutnini is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nutnini wants to stand but Aveiro has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Nutnini might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Nutnini drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Aveiro manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nutnini has Aveiro in his guard. Nutnini looking for a sweep. Not yet Nutnini, not yet. Nutnini managing to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Nutnini looking for a guillotine here but Aveiro defends easily.
Nutnini had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Aveiro is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nutnini Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Aveiro's back instead. Aveiro looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Aveiro holding both Nutnini 's hands and preventing any damage. Nutnini throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Nutnini throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Aveiro works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Nutnini trying to control but Aveiro is working from the bottom. Nutnini sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Aveiro's guard.

Still in half guard, Nutnini seems content to control. Aveiro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nutnini. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Aveiro wants to get back to his feet. Aveiro is defending against the submission attempts here by Nutnini.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Nutnini is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Aveiro has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Aveiro is trying to stand.
Nutnini is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Aveiro tries to kick Nutnini off but Nutnini keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nutnini dodges the punch combination from Aveiro.
Nutnini closes this distance looking for a takedown but Aveiro circles away. Aveiro throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Nutnini feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Aveiro can't keep his opponent in guard - Nutnini advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Aveiro keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Aveiro tries to kick Nutnini off but Nutnini keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Aveiro is defending against the submission attempts here by Nutnini.

That was a close second round but I would say that Paolo Nutnini will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Aveiro tries to close the distance and clinch but Nutnini swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nutnini avoids the head kick by Aveiro.
Nutnini shoots in but no luck this time. Nutnini avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A nice inside leg kick there by Aveiro. That's going to slow Nutnini down. Nutnini checks a low kick from Aveiro. Aveiro fails in his attempt to clinch. Aveiro throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A nice leg kick lands there from Aveiro. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A combination from Aveiro does no damage. The fight stays on the outside here - Aveiro looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Aveiro tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nutnini swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nutnini shoots in for a takedown but Aveiro shows good takedown defense. Paolo Nutnini is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aveiro tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Nutnini throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Aveiro's waist but Aveiro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nutnini off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paolo Nutnini. That's going to take a lot out of him. Aveiro is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Aveiro pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Aveiro throws a right and a left that Nutnini avoids nicely. Nutnini takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Paolo Nutnini. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nutnini, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
