PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rico Cole (ranked 2568 p4p, 7034 weight class) and Rob Gross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cole comes to the cage accompanied by Gerardo's Rico Suave. Rob Gross looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 21 - 1, fighting out of New York, Rico Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rob Gross!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gross moves out of range of the leg kick from Cole.
A solid leg kick lands there for Cole.
Gross blocks a jab.
Gross unleashes a big counter combination but Cole bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Cole has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
The crowd cheers as Cole lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gross doesn't seem phased though.
Gross takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Gross just misses with a punch to the body.

Cole lands a big uppercut and Gross crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Gross looks OK. Cole waves Gross back to his feet!

Gross is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cole throws a looping overhand right but Gross ducks down to avoid it.
Gross is still on wobbly legs! Can Cole finish him?
Gross drops his hands momentarily. Cole doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Gross staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Gross doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rico Cole!
Our winner, Rico Cole, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
