Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rio De Janeiro!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Allen Mack!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mack misses with a leg kick

and De Janeiro counters with a shoot takedown. Mack fights it but they end up in guard.
Mack wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and De Janeiro manages to pass to side control.
Mack is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mack wants to improve his position but De Janeiro is controlling well.
Mack is trying to maintain the position but De Janeiro is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

De Janeiro is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

De Janeiro seems to be working for a kimura but Mack defends the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mack tries to get to full guard but De Janeiro has control of the leg.
De Janeiro seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Mack really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De Janeiro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
De Janeiro prevents Mack from improving his position.
De Janeiro with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
De Janeiro has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Mack is trying to maintain the position but De Janeiro is very close to passing his half guard.

Mack moves into full guard.

De Janeiro thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Mack is looking for a triangle here but De Janeiro uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

De Janeiro is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mack is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The referee asks De Janeiro politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. De Janeiro prefers to stall for the moment though.
Mack prevents De Janeiro from improving position.
Mack is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
De Janeiro happy to just control the position for now.
De Janeiro works to advance to full mount. Mack defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
De Janeiro controlling from mount.
Mack is desperately trying to improve his position but De Janeiro has a good base and remains in mount.
Mack is still trying to improve position.
Mack regains half guard.
Mack trying to hold on to De Janeiro's head to control him but De Janeiro postures up.
De Janeiro seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Mack stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mack wants it to stay on the feet.
De Janeiro closes the distance and clinches up with Mack, looking for a takedown. De Janeiro pushes Mack against the cage but Mack circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
De Janeiro avoids the head kick by Mack.
De Janeiro looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

De Janeiro drives through with a takedown into Mack's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We've been informed that Mack has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
De Janeiro might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mack is trying to control the position from the bottom.
De Janeiro controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Mack wants to sweep but no luck.
De Janeiro stands and throws Mack's legs to the side, diving into side control.
You can see the frustration on Mack's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Mack sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Mack wants to improve his position but De Janeiro is controlling well.

De Janeiro is taking a breather. Mack says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
This is a sustained period of stalling by De Janeiro.

De Janeiro is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mack can do to turn this around?

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
De Janeiro tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mack defends well and De Janeiro ends up having to push Mack into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rio De Janeiro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

De Janeiro will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mack throws an uppercut from half a mile away. De Janeiro sees it coming and avoids it easily.

De Janeiro shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mack is trying to defend but De Janeiro finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Mack tries to roll over but De Janeiro keeps him under control.
De Janeiro perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Mack is controlling De Janeiro's position as best he can from this difficult position.

De Janeiro seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Mack is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
