Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jackson The Surfer (ranked 3181 p4p, 3631 weight class) and Anwar Rinda (ranked 0 p4p, 335 weight class). Jackson The Surfer had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jackson The Surfer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Anwar Rinda!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The Surfer feints and as Rinda raises his hands in defense, The Surfer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The Surfer cracks Rinda with a solid left hand.
Rinda keeping moving, preventing The Surfer from controlling successfully.

Rinda looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The Surfer lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Rinda is trying to keep The Surfer in close.
The Surfer chips away with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rinda is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rinda can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as The Surfer is looking to escape.

Rinda wants to control the pace but The Surfer is squirming around nicely.
Rinda is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The Surfer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if The Surfer tries to get out of the position.

Rinda might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control The Surfer haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The Surfer is trying desperately to improve position.

The Surfer tries to lock up and control but Rinda gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Rinda takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

The Surfer looking very determined here, making life difficult for Rinda.

Rinda is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but The Surfer has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Rinda keeps control of the position as The Surfer tries to break free.
Rinda is looking to control The Surfer but The Surfer is wriggling around and keeping busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The Surfer turns into Rinda and is now in his guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Anwar Rinda will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Rinda fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. The Surfer sprawls well initially but Rinda persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rinda uses his free foot to push down on The Surfer's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for The Surfer.

Our spies down at at Island Gym inform us that Rinda has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Rinda doesn't have the hooks in and The Surfer manages to turn into his guard.
Rinda avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The Surfer trying to move into half guard but instead Rinda has managed to sweep!

Rinda trying to control the position from guard on top but The Surfer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rinda is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The Surfer wants to sweep here but Rinda controlling him for the moment.

Rinda prevents The Surfer from getting back to his feet.

The Surfer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rinda gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The Surfer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rinda doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rinda manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The Surfer can't keep his opponent in guard - Rinda advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

The Surfer is refusing to be controlled, as Rinda sits in half guard.

Rinda is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so The Surfer is just riding it out for now. Rinda eventually gives up the hold.

Rinda maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! The Surfer could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Rinda has cracked it and The Surfer is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Rinda!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Anwar Rinda!
