Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Red Yabai (ranked 4631 p4p, 3575 weight class) and Gordon Plant (ranked 227 p4p, 180 weight class). Gordon Plant is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yabai shoots in looking for a takedown. Plant tries to sprawl out of it but Yabai keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Plant manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Yabai throws a looping overhand right but Plant ducks down to avoid it.
Plant needs to keep his hands up - Yabai had a free shot at his head there.
Plant is looking to clinch.
Plant shoots in looking for a takedown. Yabai tries to sprawl out of it but Plant keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yabai manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Plant throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Yabai's waist but Yabai gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Plant off to one side.

We've been hearing good reports from Yabai's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Plant is trying to stand.

Yabai is working for a kimura but Plant is defending it quite comfortably.

Yabai looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Plant is staying active underneath Yabai, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Yabai is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Plant to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Plant shrugs it off.

Yabai has hold of Plant's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Plant manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Plant is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Yabai is controlling him well.

Yabai has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Yabai thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yabai has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Plant is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Yabai yanks on the arm and Plant is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Yabai.
